Curacao | 2012 | Jan Thiel | Architect: Cees den Heijer | Interior design: Studio Linse

The Papagayo Beach & Design Hotel opened its doors in December 2012 and
is located in the well‐known Jan Thiel region, on the beach directly adjacent to Papagayo Beach Club. The Hotel consists of a main building of contemporary design and a number of detached structures. In the main building you will find the Lobby, with an attractive bar and the reception area. The rooms have views of the Jan Thiel boulevard, the lobby with garden and the Caribbean Sea. Some detached buildings located in the distinctive garden look out onto this garden or onto the sea. Some of the other buildings are on the beach with a full frontal sea view. Architect Cees den Heijer has spent a lot of attention to the modern design, creating a magnificent combination of the ever‐pleasant, hospitable Caribbean climate and a comfortable stay.

For the lobby, reception and the 155 rooms LOT1038 supplied the loose standing furniture. In the lobby a 7‐meter long table from Piet Hein Eek, with the famous Navy barstool from Emeco. The writer’s desk and the surrounding chairs are also from the hand of Piet Hein Eek & Emeco. The outdoor lounge set is from Bivaq. The side tables in various grey colors are Hay furniture and called DLM, Don’t Leave me. The small pouf’s in Sunbrella fabrics are from Johanson. Across the reception and also in the lobby there are long teak sofa’s called “Boca Sofa”. The fan’s are called Air and are from Boffi.
